Oxford Pride is now in its 17th year and has become one of the UK’s largest free Pride events with around 10,000 visitors on Pride Day. Alongside this, there is a vibrant week-long festival which celebrates LGBTQIA+ life in Oxfordshire with a wide range of events that take place throughout the city. In recent years this has included symposiums, comedy nights, theatre and cabaret as well as the annual dog show. For the last six years, Oxford Pride has been held in the Oxford Castle Quarter located in the centre. This location also works as the perfect location to complete our ever-growing parade which starts outside Oxford’s iconic Bodleian Library and travels directly through the busy centre.

For 2020 we have chosen the theme of #DiverseCity to represent our dedication towards all sections of the LGBTQIA+ community. We are proud to have our first ever female POC Oxford Pride Chair and we want to use our platform to promote inclusion and support areas of the community who are often overlooked. With the theme in mind, we aim to develop stronger relationships with the communities of Oxford and work together to build the future of pride for years to come.

All our events have a cultural, faith or human rights elements for the enrichment of the local and national community. These events will be in partnership with other organisations as providing pride should be a multi-organisational celebration.

The City of Oxford has one of the best public transport systems in the UK which has always helped make Oxford Pride accessible to visitors from the surrounding towns. We are very lucky to also have the Oxford Bus Company as one of our leading sponsors – we even have an Oxford Pride bus which is visible in the City all year round. As such a popular tourist destination, Oxford is also home to plenty of accommodation options for attendees from further afield. Even Oxford Castle Quarter, the location for Oxford Pride event for the past 6 years, is home to a large hotel.

Oxford Pride 2020 is proud to continue our journey, working with and supporting local committed campaigners for equality and the future looks exciting and inclusive with new exhibitions and projects, Beyond the Binary Project at Pitt Rivers Museum, Queering Spires Exhibit at the Oxford Museum, Topaz a network of Youth Groups and Oxford Friend an award winning LGBTQIA+ mental health charity.

Oxford Pride is a celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer life in Oxfordshire. The events supporting or arranged by Oxford Pride promote awareness of LGBT issues and lifestyles by providing information, education and entertainment in a safe and encouraging environment.
